Our Christmas in Photos

We had a really great Christmas this year. It's always awesome to see the magic of Christmas through the eyes of your children. They had a blast and were thrilled with everything they opened.
Sadie got her beloved cleaning cart. I kid you not, the child asked for a cleaning cart that looks an awful lot like hotel maid's cart. She was ecstatic. She opted to put it into the playroom, which is ready to packed up so the girls aren't allowed to play with any of it, so that her sisters would leave it alone.

Lilly got a vanity that she loves. She has spent a lot of time sitting in front of it brushing her hair, and her sisters hair too. We also got her a computer game for kid's about 1st to 3rd grade. She loves it. She could spend the entire day sitting in front of it if she could. She's a quick learner too, so she is able to figure out most of the game with minimal help from us, even though we're there when she asks.
Ruby didn't really have a particular thing that she loved. She loves all of it and seems to play with everything equally. She did love breakfast though. We had cinnamon rolls and orange juice and the whole she just kept saying,'mmmm. Dis good!' and rubbed her belly.

Steven and I made cornish hens, ribeyes, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and gravy for Christmas lunch. It was all really good, but I look forward to next Christmas when we go much simpler on the food. We all had a great day and it was pretty relaxed for the most part. I can't wait to see what this next year brings, hopefully happiness and good health. 2011 was a crazy year filled with good and bad things, but I'm ready to say good riddance 2011 and hello 2012!

Happy New Year!

Who is this big girl and where did Lilly go?

Lilly lost her very first tooth this past Monday! She was so excited for it to finally fall out and would ask if Steven or I would give it a tug to help it out. Monday night she asked me again to check and tug on it so I tried again. I knew it was ready to pop out so when I tugged on it came right out, but just after it came out Lilly started whining about how it hurt. Steven and I started laughing because we knew it was already out. A few seconds later her eyes bugged out and she stuttered, "You got it out? My tooth came out!!!" All we could do was laugh. We were all so excited for her.
That night we went to the Christmas tree lighting on base where all the elementary school kids sang some Christmas songs. It was really nice. And I just have to mention this part. If you know me you know I love Boondock Saints and so does Steven. One of our favorite parts is when the detective asks Agent Smecker what the "symbology" of the evidence is. Then Agent Smecker says "I think you mean symbolism. What is the symbolism?" We always crack up at that. Well someone said a few words at the tree lighting ceremony talked about the symbology of the what the Christmas tree meant for everyone on base. Steven and I couldn't help but crack up.

Back to Lilly. After the ceremony we were walking to the car and Lilly was talking about what she was going to get with the money from the tooth fairy and she finally decided on a horse. We asked her how much she thought she was going to get and she said 1 coin. Unfortunately we had to tell her that was not enough. The tooth fairy ended up giving her $2 and she was thrilled! After a walk around the BX and explaining how all the things there cost a lot more.

She was such a good sport about and maturely decided to save it. We tried to find her a nice, decorative box to save her money in, but we had no luck. Hopefully we find something good soon because I think she is going to loose the other bottom, middle tooth sooner rather than later. Her big tooth broke through the gums yesterday and she is just as thrilled about it as she was when the baby tooth fell out.
And she has been growing like crazy. It is really nuts. She has never grown this much this fast. In August while we were at my parents' house we did some school shopping for Lilly. We always try to buy the girls clothes that are a little big so there is some room to grow. We bought size 5 clothes for her and a size 10 in shoes. Everything we bought was big for her. In the past month she has gone into a size 6x and almost an 11 in shoes. We bought some corduroy pants for her in a size 6 and when we got home and tried them on the fit perfectly, like a glove. We returned them the next day for the 6x ones. This was the first time we bought clothes for one of the girls and thought it would be big but we were completely wrong. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger. She's starting to read and help out more. It is crazy to us how big she's getting, I just wish it didn't happen so fast. She impresses us more and more everyday. At her Thanksgiving Feast at school, she tried everything. She sat at her table and ate while the parents sat at bigger tables. The whole time she was giving us the 'thumbs up' after she tried her food. She isn't picky when it comes to eating, so she more than willingly tries new foods and usually loves them. She also did a 5 Little Turkeys song and did great. She also made a Thanksgiving decoration that we can hang every year.
And on top of that Ruby and Sadie are turning 2 and 4 in a week. Pretty soon they won't look like babies or toddlers anymore. More on those two another day. It's time to pick Lilly up from school :) Oh and Daddy, aka The Sucker because he's a sucker when it comes to the girls, picked up a hot pink Hello Kitty Christmas tree for them even though he told them last year there was absolutely no way we are buying a pink Christmas tree ;) Ha! He cracks me up! And pay no attention to our Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Since we'll have Christmas in the good 'ole USA next year we'll have the big beautiful Christmas tree we've always wanted :)

Trick or Treating

The girls started their Halloween festivities at Daddy's work. They got to go trick or treating at the squadron and had a blast. As soon as we got there, Ruby started waving her bucket around and chanting, 'canny, canny, canny'. She was thrilled about the whole process. They had a lot of fun and were excited about all their candy! And where else could you go trick or treating alongside some very large planes! Sadie was Belle, Ruby was Cinderella, and Lilly was Ariel!

The 3rd of July?

One thing I love and hate that the girls do is when they are "politically correct". Everything is very literal with them. Today's not your actual birthday but we are just celebrating it today, so Happy Day Before Your Birthday! This was just one of those instances. Since the 4th of July was on a Monday this year, most of the fireworks were over the weekend. I knew I wanted to take the girls to see them because it's just one of those times when you equate something with a certain day or holiday. Just like turkey on Thanksgiving. For us it's fireworks on the 4th of July. Well they were constantly questioning why we weren't going to see fireworks on the 4th but on the 3rd. Once they caught on, they started yelling to everyone else, "Happy 3rd of July!". Yes, I already know how cute my kiddos are.

On the 4th we went to the Macungie Flower Garden. It's just a small plot of flowers in the middle of town right next to the train tracks. Two things the girls love is flowers and trains. We walked around and looked at all the flowers and tried smelling them too. I got to take some photos of the girls and the flowers and we even got to see a freight train. It was a very warm day so we went and got some cold treats at Rita's Water Ice. I forgot how much I love that place since the last time I was there I was just a kid.

After the snack we went back to the house and watched some movies. We had a nice quiet holiday. We all had a good day but boy did we miss having Daddy with us. Cross your fingers and toes that soon he'll be here with us. We miss you!

Mother’s Day

We had a great day on Sunday. Steven got home from work and brought the kiddos downstairs so I could try and sleep in. Unfortunately Ruby had poked me enough until I woke up that there was no hope of going back to sleep. So instead Steven put breakfast together for all of us then went to sleep himself. The poor guy does so much for us and doesn’t get nearly enough sleep. The girls and I hung out around the house until Steven woke up at about lunchtime. We then headed out so we could take some photos at the train tracks. The girls love it there- they’re not in use- and pick all the little flowers in the grass. It was such a beautiful and relaxed day. Steven cooked us an awesome dinner of steaks, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and hot dogs for the girls. It was just a nice day and I’m so thankful to have Steven and the girlies.

Our Valentine’s Day

We started out the day getting Lilly to school. Steven has Mondays off so he took her like usual. She’s always a little sad to go to school on days that Daddy has off. But off to school she went. She had a “Friendship Party” at school because they don’t celebrate holidays in her class. We helped her make “friendship” cards for her friends at school.

While she was at school we went to the BX and got a couple of gifts for the girls and Steven. And then at home, I made cupcakes for us to decorate when Lilly got home. After school, we took the kiddos for haircuts and then headed off base to make another payment for our bedroom furniture. Steven then remembered that the girls really wanted purses for Valentine’s Day so we took a detour into Pop’s Leather. They make fake designer bags and other leather related things. The girls saw some pink Coach clutches that they really wanted. While we were looking at all the bags I wanted, Steven found the girls some Gucci purses. I don’t think think he knows what door he just opened. They girls have carrying around their fake Coach clutches in their fake Gucci bags since they opened them. They sit with them on the couch and hang them on their chairs for dinner. They’re too funny.

They were also thrilled to get some Hallmark stuffed animals and cards. Steven got me some tulips, my favorites, and a beautiful basket. I got him the Playstation Move. He has wanted one since before they came out, but has managed to pysch himself out when it came to buying one. He had a lot of fun trying it out last night after the girls went to bed.

Speaking of going to bed, the two big girls get tucked in and go to sleep on their own, but when they were younger and Steven wasn’t home for bedtime, I let them fall asleep in our bed and then put them in their own bed. We were set to do the same thing for Ruby even though Daddy is home for bedtime for the time being. Well last night after we tucked the big girls in, Ruby kept walking down to their room and pointing to their beds. After the 15th time of taking her out of there, we jokingly said goodnight to her and laid her in her crib. We really thought that she would only be in there for a couple of minutes before the tears started flowing. BUT she didn’t even peep. She went straight to sleep. We were so mad! We really like to cuddle with her at night. It’s the only time she sits still and we can just cuddle with her. I know that we are both hoping it was just a fluke and tonight she’ll lay down with us before she goes to sleep.

We had a wonderful day!

Christmas Eve Pictures

Just a photo recap of out Christmas Eve.

The girls waiting patiently to start our cookies.
Lilly is entertaining them with the Santa puppet she made at Story Time.

Ruby could be patient no more, She was getting bored just watching and buckled into her high chair.

Finally time to frost/decorate the cookies. Ruby only wanted the chocolate frosting!
Lilly was very into decorating her cookies. Sadie just wanted to eat the frosting.
Steven got really creative with the cookies.
And this is Sloth from Goonies!
After the cookies were done we got ready for church. And then thanks to a tripod and self timer, we took a few photos.
After the kiddos went to bed, we had to wrap all of the presents and put together a few toys.
Poor Steven worked on this castle for over 2 hours. He won't lie either, he was a little heart broken when Ruby started demolishing it the next day!
We had a great Christmas this year!
